Mindfulness for Yoga and Everyday Life

Why is mindfulness is getting so much attention these days? Probably because so many of us know we need to stay more present and aware in our lives. Just as physical exercise increases strength, flexibility, and endurance to support the regular activities of your life, mindfulness exercises develop skills of attention that nurture a deep and mature level of personal contentment.

This workshop explores practical ways to gently incorporate attentional fitness into your yoga practice and your life. Loretta will use small therapy balls and yogic techniques to help us loosen tension from the body. Daron will steer us into untangling the strands of thoughts and feeling that we so easily conflate into stress. Throughout the session, we will both offer ideas and exercises to help make developing the skills of attention part of our daily lives. We'll release tension to reveal ease of body and reveal peace of mind. Return home with a yoga therapy ball, handouts, and skills to unwind tension from body and mind.

Loretta Zedella is an experienced yoga teacher who is has been teaching yoga at Ohio Wesleyan University since 2004, and is respected by students throughout Central Ohio for her practical yet light-hearted teaching methods. Loretta has studied with countless yoga teachers and has immersed herself in developing a deep understanding of body alignment and movement. She is the founder of Yoga Outreach Columbus, a charitable organization dedicated to uniting the local yoga community and benefitting local community assistance groups. She also assists her plant-based chef husband, The Duke of Fork and relishes her role as The Duchess.
